The gift
Free to begin, and nothing charged at checkout. The one charge, $179, happens only when they finish the first act of the book and say it sounds like them.
Charged once, hardcover included, never a subscription. If they never start, you never pay, and the card is removed.
From $97. Nothing charged at checkout.
The ones about where you came from, who you actually are, what happened on the ordinary Tuesday nobody wrote down. The gift is asking while the stories still live in that voice. The book that comes back is one they own, in words they approved, with room for the chapters only they would think to name.
The ways to give it
Each is one price, charged once, and $0 today. A book is charged only when its first act is finished and sounds like the person who told it.
Digital
Their whole book, finished and typeset, to read on any screen.
Hardcover
The gift as you picture it: their stories, printed and bound, posted to your door.
Audio + Print
The pages, and the sound of the telling. Their actual voice, saved beside every chapter.
Two Books
Both parents, one order. Each book is charged separately, and only when it truly begins.
Later, from inside the book, you can add a second hardcover for $49, or the Recordings once enough of the answers have been spoken aloud to be worth owning.
Pick the story you want to hear and send them a link with one line: "I want to know how you two met, not the short version." You save your card here; they never see a payment screen. On their phone, it looks like a simple book to write.
They answer fifty-five questions at their own pace, and can name chapters of their own: the night the car flipped, the year everything changed. The ghostwriter shapes each answer into a typeset chapter they read and approve. Approved chapters stack up into the book. You see how far along it is, never the words, so they can speak freely.
When they finish and approve the book, it is bound in hardcover and posted to you. Your card was charged once, back when the first act sounded like them. You get the shipping window the moment it goes to print.
What a telling becomes
“The door was green, and it stuck in summer. You had to lift the handle and lean, and everyone who loved us knew that, so nobody ever knocked. You just heard the scrape and knew company was coming.”
Marcus, aloud, on an ordinary Tuesday.
“My father never once said they were proud of me. They'd just tap the hood of whatever I was fixing, twice, like knocking on a door, and walk off whistling. Took thirty years to translate that into English.”
Marcus, aloud, three weeks in.
“They ordered the worst dish on the menu on purpose, just to see if I would trade. I did. Forty years later I still order whatever they do not want, and they still act surprised.”
Marcus, aloud, laughing halfway through.
Three chapters from one sample story, eight chapters long so far. Every page is checked line by line against what was actually said, then read back and approved by the person who said it. Nothing is printed that they have not approved.
Asked before you ask
The guarantee that holds it all up
Nothing charges at checkout. Your card is saved and checked, and then it waits. Nothing renews, and nothing surprises you later.
The charge happens at one specific moment: the first act of the book, the opening chapters, is finished, they have read it back, and they have said it sounds like them.
If that moment never comes, or they decide no on that first act, you are never charged and the card is removed. This is the only condition.
No card charged at checkout. A book is charged once, and only when it truly begins.
